What isFLATA?
The American Translators Association (ATA)is the largest professional association of translators,interpreters and T&I agencies in the United States. With morethan 6,000 members, it is among the world's leading professionalorganizations in the field. FLATA, a key regional chapter of theATA, provides a vital link to the professional mainstream oftranslation and interpretation on a global scale, due to itsaffiliation with ATA, and --through the latter-- with the FédérationInternationale des Traducteurs (FIT).
What doesFLATA do?
FLATA serves the translation andinterpretation professions throughout Florida by providing aprofessional services directory, updated information on T&Iindustry developments, references on the improvement anddevelopment of new working tools for T&I professionals,professional development and continuing education events, andother valuable services designed to help T&I professionalsbecome more productive and competitive.
Who can joinFLATA?
Membership in FLATA is open to anyonelegitimately engaged or interested in translating / interpreting,or a combination thereof, regardless of status: individuals (freelancers,independent contractors, employees of T&I firms, governmentor corporate in-house translators/interpreters), commercial T&Iservice providers, educational institutions, T&I end-users,whether located in Florida or not, are all eligible to join. Thesole condition for membership is payment of annual dues ($50),collected on a calendar year basis. Though strongly recommended,membership in ATA is not required to join FLATA (or vice versa)
